The first ten people to comment give me a request for a picture to be taken of something in my life.

The only catch is-- no pictures of myself. It has to be of objects in my daily life. Then I will take pictures of the requested things, and post them in a separate entry.

Then those 10 people who requested photos have to post this same challenge in their own journal, with 1 additional rule (of their own choosing). The 10 people who comment on that entry, have to add ANOTHER rule of their own, and so on and so forth."

My extra rule? Don't make me take a picture with/of my roommate. I... don't really like her much and don't feel like explaining what el jay or picture memes are to her. haha.

Thursday night, the Titanic Players did a show in my dorm so me and a bunch of my teammates were just stalking the lobby hallways trying to get people to come. I think we succeeded 50/50 in scaring people away by being total creepers and actually drawing people into the room. lol. The show itself was hilarious, of course. I think Blown to Kingdom Come, the 3rd year team, did the best show I've ever seen them do, so that's wicked. The show was from 7-9. I hung out with everyone, cleaned up, and played piano til 10, then I went over to the Union because I was hosting karaoke with the Student Performance Committee. It was lulzy. Yeah. Me and Becca rapped Eminem's Without Me. Yeah. XD

After hearing a horrendous version of "Killing Me Softly," I walked over to two of the Founders' house for a Titanic Players get together party. I love hanging out with all of them, it's always such a blast. It's so much fun to get to know everyone. We played Abdel and had a major Stephen Lynch sing along and watched Back to the Future (I had never seen it before and Jon quickly asserted that that had to be immediately remedied.) By the time the movie was over, it was past 3 in the morning, and every single person had either left or was asleep except for me and Jason, per usual. In Chicago, we were the two up the latest too. I feel like I've hung out with Jason the most of any of the titanic kids and I think he's really cool. Everyone's like "oooh you and Jason" but he's a senior and my director and I'm totally fine just talking Dr. Who with him all the time. XD But yeah, he walked me back to my dorm and then we just talked for an hour and a half straight outside my dorm. It was so much fun! Finally we're like "fuck, it's 5:30. Sleep time." I.. skipped my first class ever this morning! I had german at 8:50 and I'm sitting in my room and it's 6 and I"m like there's no effing way I can get ready for school in 2 hours hale no. Sooooo I didn't go! eek. The Jew guilt was super hard to get over, but it's done with now.

I met with my Titanic team at 1 this afternoon and we all had lunch together at the Union for some team bonding time because usually it's all Titanic parties, but we needed some Incubator Team time. :] Olivia and Ben couldn't make it, but the other 7 of us just talked comedians and life and everything. I'm so happy with our team. Everyone is just.. awesome! :)

Now I'm frantically cleaning up my room because my family is driving up from Ohio this weekend!! They should be here in an hour! :D This'll be Sam's first time in Wisconsin. Man, I can't wait to see them again! It's been since August! They're staying at a hotel near the capitol tonight and tomorrow and I'm going to sleep over there because I need an actual real shower. I'm so happy. We're going out to dinner tonight, going to the Michigan/Wisconsin game tomorrow, and hopefully Mystery Science Theatre tomorrow midnight. Yess.

My aircheck tape for the radio got approved! The station manager e-mailed me saying "You have a really personable air voice and it's great to see some gems on there, like The Modern Lovers and Robyn Hitchcock. We've got an album by the later's first band, The Soft Boys. Worth checking out."
bitch, please. You think I don't already have The Soft Boys? You think I haven't already recorded a version of me and my dad covering "Give it to the Soft Boys?" (because I have http://www.sendspace.com/file/045d9u ) *sigh* You underestimate me, WSUM. But I can have a show now! Wooo! I'll find out when soon!

Fudge, I feel like there was something semi-important I was going to write next, and then I got distracted, and I've come back to this, and I have no idea. Bananas.

Following my insanely fucking lucky winning streak I've been having the last few months (no idea where it's coming from, but i love it!), I got a package from Simon and Schuster today. Yeah, that random contest I signed up for 2 months ago through Michael Ian Black's twitter to win a signed copy of his new book My Custom Van? I won.

Screw writing my theatre paper on the sound design of Imaginary Invalid! Here's what's been happening:

1. I got radio board certified last night! I got a certificate and everything. I turned in my air check tape, show proposal, evaluation, and shadow sheets yesterday and if I get a show, I'll find out in a few days when it is! :D

And because I apparently enjoy public embarrassment, here's my radio audition tape for you to ~~enjoy~~ listen to, if you want. It's 10 minutes and all the songs are telescoped, so the first and last 15 seconds, plus all my voice breaks and a cheesy PSA I had to say about zombies.

2. I found out Friday afternoon that I was going to Chicago with the Titanic Players to be in the travelling cheering section for the Founders when they performed in the College Improv Tournament Mid West competition! It was a BLAST! I watched 12 groups perform 15 times. The Founders got 3rd (yay) but honestly really really deserved 1st. The two higher teams both used piano and that takes so much weight off of the improvers because there's automatically never awkward silence, you know? But everyone, even the judges, admit that the Founders' prelim piece was THE best piece of the entire tourney. It was the best they've ever done even. so. fucking. funny. Those kids are genius.

In between prelims (at 4) and finals (10) a bunch of us UW Titanic Players had dinner and walked around Chicago. It was me and Alec from my team, our director Jason, Aaron, Sherri, Jon, and Julie (the 5 Founders), and Elliot, Kelsey, Claire, and Kristin. We went into a porn shop, a tattoo parlor, ghetto hardcore clothing stores, three comic book shops, and a Starbucks. I had my first coffee/energy drink that I actually liked. Those vanilla Double Shots. dayumm they're awesome.

After the competition, we headed to this guy Mike's house, who's pretty much in charge of the entirety of Titanic Players, here, at Northwester, and U of Illinois. I learned how to play Abdell, a card game, and we sang along to the 90s music and tv channel for hoursss. There were like 17 people sleeping in this one little house to me, Alex, and Jason all slept on this tiny couch. Me and Jason stayed up talking and watching Robin Hood, South Park, and Dr. Who until 7 IN THE MORNING. :D Then me, Jason, Jon, and Kristin all drove home the next day, got back to Madison at 5:30. Needless to say, I'l a little tired (but that's normal) but it was so so so much fun.

3. Patrick bought our tickets for the St. Louis International Film Festival. I'm definitely seeing 5 movies on Saturday. I'm seeing Adela, Those Three, 35 Shots of Rum, the Documentary Shorts: Communities program which is Down Here, Goleshovo, and Waiting for Women, and Shorts Program 7, which is eleven 4-12 minute long animated shorts. I kinda wish I could be there for the Comedic Shorts program because I'm not the biggest animation fan, but that's on another day. Besides, short films are my favorite style of movie. I'm super excited. I guess I'm seeing 17 films then actually! Awesome. :D 35 is French and German, Those Three is Iranian and is in Farsi and Turkish, and Adela is from the Phllipines and is in Tagalog.

4. First year parents weekend is this weekend! I'll get to see my family for the first time since August! :D yayy. We're going to the Michigan/Wisco football game. uh oh. ;] But that should be fun.

5. I'm going to Chicago for Thanksgiving, and will meet my people there for 2 days. It'll be FANTASTIC spending the holiday with my aunt and uncle who own a restaurant (what whaat!) instead of forced family friends in Michigan like every year. heh heh.

6. I saw Final Fantasy and The Mountain Goats on Friday! FF was a-fucking-mazing. The venue, the High Noon Saloon, is so small and cozy and awesome. I was completely on the stage, front row, as in sitting on the stage before the show. It was awesome. Very intimate space. I took a bunch of pictures, but didn't like using flash (it's distracting :P), so I don't know how well many turned out, and I took tons of video too. His set was too short, imo. I'd listen to them perform all night. It was weird, only going to a concert for the opening band. I heard the three older women next to me mentioning surprise at 2 people knowing the lyrics to FF and I'm like "I ONLY know FF, never heard of the Mountain Goats." Turns out she's a reporter for the Capital Times newspaper and was reviewing the show and we all ended up talking through out the night. I had to leave the Goats 4 songs early to make it back to the Union in time for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the 90s live action one, with Corey Felding), and it was AWESOOOME. I can't believe I've never seen that whole movie! It's so funny! Really, really bad, but I loved it. ;)

I've had a super busy week, and I was a little bummed I never got a Star Trek costume, so Friday night I planned on just watching Numb3rs and going to bed early. Of course this didn't happen in the least. My Titanic Players teammate Jonah texted me at 9:30 saying that the Founders (the upper level Titanic team) were having a party at the same place where we had that first get to know each other party. I'm like what the hell, they're funny as hell people, I want to go. So I throw together a costume which was pretty much what I wear on a normal day (purple tights, highlighter green knee socks, pink shorts, tie dye shirt) and call it an 80s costume. I walked over to Aaron's house and chilled with all the Titanic kids. He gave me one of those riot helmets and so my costume became roller derby, which was pretty awesome.

But yeah, I hung out there until 4 am. It was so much fun! I love those guys. Jason and his friend walked me home, and then I met up again with both of them to shadow Jason's radio show at noon that day. We were all so tired XD But that was really fun too- Jason has a ska show and he let me go on the radio and play songs and stuff, which I always love. Then, I headed over to Goodwill because damnit, I wanted to be a Star Trek character for Halloween! I found this yellow sweater and black boots (1 1/2 sizes too small, hurt like a bitch, but perfect for the costume!), bought them, and proceeded to make myself a girl!Kirk costume! I duct taped the arm bands and used my cereal box logo toy and was on my way!

I walked over to this other Titanic kid's house for Halloween pregaming and on my way, I fucking ran into my fucking cousin!! My mom mentioned a week ago how my cousin Jason was visiting his friends in Madison. But they don't go to school here so there was little chance they'd even be on campus. Jason went to ASU and then got drafted into the Major Leagues, so he hasn't been at Passover or Yom Kippur the last few years, so I haven't seen him in a while. And then when I'm walking down a street i never ever walk down, i recognize him! it was so awesome! :D <3 i love my cousins!

Anyhoo, so I hung at Elliot's for a while, met up with a lot of other Titanic kids, saw a bunch of people I know on the way, then went to State Street for Freak Fest. I met up with John and Nisha and some of their friends and we saw some local band and then Cage the Elephant. By then my feet were hurting super bad and it was freeeezing out, so I headed back to my dorm. John said Third Eye Blind and fucking amazing, so I'm a little sad I didn't stay for them, but whatever. There were TONS and fantastic costumes. People made me so happy today! Like, genius. I went over a talked to every Star Trek person I saw :D And I ran into Jason as Captain Hammer! yesss.

I then I party posted! That was mucho fun. And I got to the very end! And made new friends. Always cool. :] Yay last page!

The way you begin a scene with the Titanic Players is everyone runs out on stage, the middle person introduces the scene, asks for a suggestion, they say it, we all say it, we all say thank you, and begin.

So we were practicing this and Jason and Carly, our co-directors (they're both on more experienced teams) did an example for us. Whenever we do two person scenes, you just make up a stupid little team name, usually based on what you're wearing or some random shit. Well, they were both wearing red sweatshirts so they say their names and Carly's like "And we're Team... red..shirts." And I just shout out "NO! DON'T BE TEAM REDSHIRTS! YOU WON'T SURVIVE THE AWAY MISSION!"

there's a few seconds of silence and odd glares, and then Jason, Olivia, and myself start cracking the fuck up XD It was awesome! Me and Olivia high-fived and eventually regained our composure. I have found my Titanic trekkies! :D

Ok, now that I've gotten the Trek out of the way, I had one of the busiest days of my life on Wednesday. Woke up at 8:05, left my dorm, went to German, followed immediately with Hebrew, then ran to the Chemistry building for Western Culture discussion, ran to Humanities for Theatre lecture, got back to my dorm, made oatmeal, and read all of Othello sparknotes and the first two Acts of the original, wrote a mini paper about it, headed over to Vilas for my theatre discussion, ran back to my dorm to grab my costume for the Hoofer's Haunted House, went to the Union, set up the house, got bloodied up with niiiice theatre make-up, screamed my head off scaring people from 6:30-10:00.

Side note: working a haunted house is exhausting!! Screaming and hitting things and jerky movements. Plus, it got hella hot; we were in the basement of the Union. But i had so much fucking fun! I was with the two kids in charge of the Student Performance Committee and some theatre girls. We bonded over Dr. Horrible and Spring Awakening. I got to be wheel chair patient for a while, so that was wicked. People were taking pictures, I'll post them when I track them down. :]

It was quarantine/swine flu themed, so I get out of my scrubs and run over to Vilas again for Titanic Players rehearsal. I missed the first half, but it's all good. We learned a bunch of relationship/personal gift improv things and ran a bunch of scenes. Then I finally go back to my dorm again. Now, I'm still in full zombief face/neck make-up (well, 7 hours later, so it just looked gross. people were definitely giving me strange looks walking from the union to vilas. >:D). So I get back and take a shower. By now it's after midnight. I literally did not have a single minute of free/spare time since 8:05 that morning! It was crazy! So I do my homework and get to bed at 1:30ish.

My phone is my alarm, so I have it with my on my lofted bed at a high volume. I had texted my brother with a picture of my zombie get up last night, and he replied presumably when he saw his phone after he woke up. At 6:30 am. 5:30 Wisconsin time. XI so that woke me up, then my mom texted me at 7 my time, then i randomly woke up at 8. I'm like DAMNIT, I DON'T NEED TO GET UP TIL 9! but of course i couldn't fall asleep. So it was a pretty eventful and tiring 24 hours.

And now, I have to type up the film club minutes for Patrick, write my Emmie magazine article, german project, e-mail Cryptic Corp. about getting rights to show a Residents movie (hell yeah), look up and effing plan my next semester schedule, write a Hebrew dialogue, submit a movie review, figure out what the fuck i'm doing for halloween (see third eye blind and cage the elephant?) and other misc. homework. and go out to dinner with john, because i've been too busy the last 2 weeks to.

Because I might be Penny from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog and because I hate having my hair boring brown (no offense to anyone with plain brown hair! it looks good on you! i just need crazy colors in my life. XD) I bought some Rich Auburn True Red hair dye. Key word, Red. So hey guys. What's up?
Today I shadowed my first show (we have to do 3) as the next step in radio training. My Titanic Players director has a ska show tomorrow so I'm shadowing that. Should be pretty fun. This afternoon I watched in on Maureen and Mara's Video Made Us Radio Stars. I love their show. They play film and tv music. This week's theme was all songs from commercials. They were both super nice and helped me figure out specifics about my show ideas and taught me more about working the boards and all. It was mega lousy weather wise today, raining and freezing, so I didn't go to the German Club Berlin Wall thingy. They construct a mini wall and people paint on it and then tear it down. Hopefully they'll reschedule it or something! But at 7:30 I went to Cinemateque. I'm.. not quite sure what the program is, but they show wicked films and shit outside of film club. I saw this Norwegian guy talk about and show 4 short films. It was called Music for Your Eyes and was some trippy ass experimental shit. I liked it ;] Tonight was the 1961 film One, Two, Three. I rarely watch films from that era and I was too young for most of the jokes I feel (I might have been the youngest in the audience :P) But overall it was ok.

Then I headed over to Der Rathskeller at the Union because the Great Lake Swimmers were playing! for free! :D i love college. And I got the set list! :) The opening band, The Wooden Birds, were pretty good too. When I got back to my dorm, my roommate was with this dude so I'm just like sorry sorry, two seconds, and I've just been hanging out in the den since then. Now it's 1:20 and I'm super sleep deprived so I'm going to brave going back to the room. Idk. she just doesn't tell me when she's having people over and it's awkward because I'll be in my bed and they're just there watching a movie and making out and i'm like PLEASE :P and sometimes the dude sleeps over and she just doesn't give me any fore warning! whatever. i'll talk to her tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, nazi zombies are coming! We're playing Dead Snow, Fear[s] of the Dark, and A Clockwork Orange tomorrow for film club. I'm seeing all three :D Me and John are having dinner and a Firefly fest before, then seeing all the movies together. I'm also hosting two radio shows, so it should be a fun day.

Oh yeah! I had my first legit alone bus out of campus experience! I had a coupon for $20 in groceries at this place called Metcalfe's a few miles away but it expired before my parents would be here, so I looked up directions and bus routes and everything and had a successful grocery shopping mission! I feel so grown up. XD

A bunch of my real life friends are on livejournal. Back in the day, they were my only eljay friends.

I feel like every time I post I'm like "I swear I'll make a real update when I have time!" but I have been so busy the past couple of weeks. College is fun, stressful, and amazing. Real quick: I'm still training at the radio station, working on getting a show, probably in 3 more weeks? Titanic Players continues to crack me the fuck up, I love these guys. We were all commenting on the fact that we've know each other for a week now and we're all a family now. It makes me super happy that I'm going to be on a team with everyone for the next four years! Besides those two things, Film Club, College Dems, Emmie Music magazine, and classes take up all my time. Let alone catching up with my family and friends when I can, plus ontd_startrek and everything! But you know, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Just gotta talk about my Sunday though! I drove to Milwaukee with six kids from the Undergraduate Theatre Association. It was Charles, Merle, Nick, Alexandria, and Yang. We were a team for the AIDS Walk Wisconsin. It was so much fun! Tons of people were there, a bunch of Wisco Senators talked to us, Bon Iver performed, it was cool. Then we went to Bdubs for dinner and chilled until 6:30 when we saw Spring Awakening! I saw next to Alexandria, but we all sat near each other. The show was FANTASTIC. So good. I cried three times. ;) I was the only one who'd seen it before, so it was great having everyone see such a powerful show for the first time! Then, we all stage doored and I met everyone I wanted to meet and got everyone's autographs! They were all super super nice! AND I MET CRAIG FROM DEGRASSI! :D hehehehehehe Jake Epstein <3 we talked Degrassi too! It was swank. XD I called Andrea and Anna (my weekly Degrassi party friends) and talked to Anna for half hour. It was nice to talk to her again! I'm so glad I met all those great UTA kids. We're all hanging out again, for sure. Perhaps getting a group together for when RENT comes to campus? :D

HUNTER BELL WROTE ON MY WALL!

HUNTER FUCKING BELL, FROM [TITLE OF SHOW], WROTE BACK TO MEEEEE :D this makes me happier than it should, apologies. i get excited really easily, just ask my peeps. XD

The theme for this week's Emmie Radio Hour was cliches in music, but not annoying songs, the cliche done right. So I chose how that every Broadway musical has to have the female lead sing this mighty powerful ballad type song. I picked A Way Back to Then from [tos] because I'm not as fond of female singers, let alone the big girl song at the end of shows and what not. But this song is just CRAMAZING!

In other news, I auditioned for the Titanic Players today. They're the biggest collegiate improv comedy group in the nation, with many alumni going on to be on MADtv, SNL, Second City, etc. Their whole thing is long form improv, not short form like Whose Line, but half hour minimum skits made up off of one audience suggestion.

I nailed my audition and I just got a call from the director saying I made the team!! I'm so excited. Improv was always a huge part of Destination Imagination, but that was a team thing. I feel really really awesome for auditioning alone and just trusting myself to be funny and witty. I had so much fun! We rehearse twice a week, perform around campus once a month, and the older groups even go on tour! 40 people audition and 7-10 made it. I can't wait to see who else is in! We're forming an entirely new group here, and they said we'll be together for the next 4 years (well, unless they're not a freshman) so we can really get to know each other and work off of each other!

How's this for a hectic morning: I didn't hear my alarm or anything so I get woken up by my roommate using the microwave. At 8:41. I have German at 8:50. So I get dressed, get "ready", grab my backpack, run to the bus, which was luckily late and so i caught the supposed to be 8:40 bus, get off at the corner before the building I need to be in, run there, down a flight of stairs, and into this weird room we're not usually in because we had a sub that day, and sit right down and start taking the test we had to do today and was only a minute or two late.

So that's wake up in 9th floor Sellery to Van Hise in 10 minutes. Shit son! I usually take 25 minutes to get there with 30 minutes to wake up/get ready.

HOLY HELL LISTEN TO THIS: I entered this Psych giveaway contest last Friday where you had to e-mail this guy with what you'd do if you had psychic powers. The contest had been going on since August 7 and I entered on the last night you could. Here's what I said:

If I had psychic powers, I most definitely know what I would do.
First, I'd beat the Kobayashi Maru.
Secondly, I'd take up a summer job at a theme park (preferably Cedar Point) where I would work as one of those "GUESS YOUR HEIGHT! WHAT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY MONTH?" people. Cash money! :]

I skyped with a bunch of my friends for a while and it was just too much fun. The best visuals came from when I was talking with Alex Genson because we both have this program called CamTwist and if you don't have it, you NEED it. You can use it on Skype and everything and it gives you tons of loltastic effects to play with! :D There's a video I'll try to upload.

Today the clubs I went to were Film, Art, Music, and College Dems. They all seem pretty cool. I'm going to join the Music Club 3-on-3 basketball team XD All the clubs seem really really wicked awesome. A state representative was even at College Dems to talk to us! Mark Pocan. Yeah. I don't know anyone yet but I'm working on learning Madison politics! But I do miss my best friend, Marcy Kaptur. :(

A couple of weeks ago, a girl on ontd_startrek made this fun little random give away thing and I won and I got my package in the mail today! From Germany!! It's this ADORABLE teddy bear keychain with a picture of Chris Pine on its shirt! I'm totally e-mailing her again to say how freaking cute it is (and maybe talk a little German!)

oh yes i did! They had do your own Henna where they just give you a tube of the paint and let you run wild! It was sweet. I started out with the Trek and went crazy from there. It was all over my arm and hand for 2 1/2 weeks :D

I made my parents a quick little collage picture to go with their letter:

My dad wrote me the absolute best letter last weeks and said he sent another one yesterday and I'm nowhere near as good of a writer as he is, so I had to add a little art to keep the awesomeness even haha.

College had been consistently fairly rad so far! Last night I was actually on the college radio station, WSUM, for an hour with three other kids as the Emmie Radio Hour! Emmie is a UW-M music magazine and we all brought in songs and talked about them and concerts and jokes and it was AWESOME. Plus, amazing experience because I want to get into the actual radio station (meeting is the 21st! :D) and now I've already been in the booth and had the earphones and microphone and all that jazz. German is kind of hard. I went from best German student in my high school to a class with mostly kids a year ahead of me already :P Not my fault Southview didn't have German 5! I mean there's no German 4 most of the time XI I'm not sure if I like my Professor yet or not. EVERYTHING is in German, his e-mails, the weekly syllabi... we're not allowed to talk in English as all. And honestly, this early, it sucks!

Hebrew is very hard, just in the fact that I have to learn 2 entirely new alphabets in new scripts in two weeks. @___@ Because apparently, NOONE writes Hebrew in print anymore, only cursive. But signs and banners are in print, so we have to learn it. Lotsss o' homework.

Theatre is still fun, even though it's a lecture and discussion-based class. I like my crazy discussion group where I'm the only freshman and our T.A. is actually smart :] The Professor is one of those crazy theatre loving women, which is perfect. And entertaining enough that I don't want to fall asleep instantly as I feel in my...

Western Cultures class. Ugh. If I had ANY idea that this was about Anaximenes, Empedocles, Socrates and the sort, I WOULD NEVER EVER HAVE SIGNED UP! Gosh, I have it so much. So boring. So useless. My first major college regret lol.
